Alta Hair and Beauty Studio was founded by Claire McEvoy, a hairdresser with more than 35 years of experience and a passion for creating a salon that feels personal, professional and different.
Based in Chapel-en-le-Frith, in the heart of the High Peak, Alta brings together professional hairdressing, beauty treatments and The Light Lounge in a welcoming, characterful setting.
For Claire, hairdressing has always been about more than how someone looks when they leave the salon. It's about listening, understanding what makes each person feel like themselves and creating results that work for their individual lifestyle.
Over the years, Alta has grown to bring together a talented team, professional beauty treatments and specialist Dermalux LED light therapy, so we can provide a more considered approach to beauty.

We're proud to be a Davines salon and a member of the Green Salon Collective, taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of our work.
As a member of the Green Salon Collective, we take practical steps to manage salon waste more responsibly, including recycling hair and colour foils.
We also consider how we use products and resources in the salon, continually looking for opportunities to reduce waste.
We know sustainable working is an ongoing journey, and we're committed to learning and improving as we go.

Today, Alta offers three connected areas of care:
- Hair: Professional cutting, styling, colour and specialist hair treatments.
- Beauty: Nails, brows, lashes, pedicures, waxing and our Eco Glow Facial.
- The Light Lounge: Professional Dermalux LED light therapy, available in the salon or through home hire.
Each reflects the same approach: professional expertise, personal service and thoughtful care.

How to find us
Alta Hair Studio is situated at 4-6 market Place, Chapel-en-le-Frith, SK23 0EN.
We can be found in part of an old historical building which sits directly behind the Grade 2 listed Olde Stocks. The salon can be accessed to the rear of the building off the old cobbled lanes of Terrace Road or Penny Lane.
Parking in Chapel-en-le-Frith is free, with on road parking on Market Place road for up to an hour, and in Miry Meadows car park or Thornbrook Road car park.
Booking, Deposits and Cancellation Policy
At Alta Hair and Beauty Studio, we understand that plans can change. We kindly ask all clients to give us at least 48 hours' notice if they need to cancel or rearrange an appointment. This allows us to offer the appointment to another client and respect our team's time.
Online bookings
A 50% deposit is required for all appointments booked online through SalonIQ. Your deposit secures your appointment.
If you cancel or rearrange your appointment with less than 48 hours' notice, your 50% deposit will be retained.
Appointments booked in the salon
For appointments booked directly in the salon without a deposit, cancellations or rearrangements made with less than 48 hours' notice will incur a cancellation charge of 50% of the booked service price.
Missed appointments
If you're unable to attend your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. The applicable deposit retention or cancellation charge will apply in line with the booking method and this policy.
